New York: World Sikh Parliament and Human & Civil rights council along with other Sikh organizations has announced the protest against India outside the United Nations in New York, USA.
The protest date is Sept 29th, 2022 as that date has been assigned for India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the floor of the United Nations.
Himmat Singh, Coordinator of the World Sikh Parliament said, “Sikhs are protesting along with other minorities because of the continuation of grave human rights violations by India on minorities.”
“Sikh’s demand for Self Determination which has been criminalized by India is also one of the main items on the agenda of protest along with the release of various Sikh political prisoners held by India in its jail”, he said.
He said, “Recently effort was made to educate American citizens on the issue of Sikh political prisoners by displaying the portraits of Sikh Political prisoners in Times Square, New York”.
“Most of those political prisoners are Held by India for over 25 years including Sikh leader Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara. Many other organizations and Gurudwara committees have agreed to be part of the protest despite Indian Consulate of New York threats to Gurudwara management”, he added.
