CHANDIGARH: Pro-Khalistan outfit Dal Khalsa has raised eyebrows by planning an event on the day of young Sikh leader Amritpal Singh’s coronation as president of ‘Waris Punjab De’, a youth organization founded by Bhai Sandeep Singh Sidhu aka Deep Sidhu.
The coronation of Amritpal Singh, who recently came from Dubai to proactively join the Sikh struggle in Punjab, is slated to be held on September 29 at village Rode, birth place of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in Moga district of Punjab. Volunteers of the organization are appealing to the Sikh youths to reach Rode village to make their presence in the coronation ceremony of Amritpal Singh, whose arrival in Punjab has filled enthusiasm in the young Sikh generation.
On the same day, Dal Khalsa has announced to organize a convention and march at Hoshiarpur raising the slogan of Sikh Azadi. Its supporters including Ranjit Singh Damdami Taksal said in a FB post that September 29 has been chosen because Bhai Gajinder Singh and his aides hijacked the Indian plane to ensure release of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale during Dharam Yudh Morcha.
However, supporters of Amritpal Singh are alleging that Dal Khalsa planned this event just to outnumber the coronation and torpedo it.
Terming it as “hidden opposition and hidden propaganda” of Dal Khalsa, Chacha Baghel Singh said, “Dal Khalsa never organized any event before on this date. Why it is doing so this year. Meaning is clear”.
