AMRITSAR: In a shocking news for the Sikh community, an event is being organized on Friday (September 9) at Khalsa College of Engineering and Management (KCEM) which is run by Khalsa College Governing Council Amritsar, to pay tribute to controversial Arya Samaj leader Lala Jagat Narain on his death anniversary.
As per an advertisement published in a newspaper, a blood donation camp is being organized at the college situated at Ranjit Avenue locality here. He is glorified as “freedom fighter”, “defender of truth”, “Reflection of ideals” and the person who “sacrificed his life for unity and integrity of India”.
Upkar SIngh Sandhu, a Sikh leader and brother of All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF)’s General Secretary Shaheed Bhai Harminder Singh Sandhu, has taken serious note of the event.
“Lala was the man who spread hate between Sikhs and Hindus in Punjab. He was staunch opponent of Punjabi language. He used objectionable language for the former Akal Takht jathedar Gurdial Singh Ajnoha and made derogatory remarks for Sikhs. This is very unfortunate that his death anniversary is being marked in a Sikh institution for establishment of which the Sikh qaum made tireless efforts for decades during colonial era”, he said.
He added, “Satyajit Singh Majithia, father of SAD (Badal) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, and BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina are president and honourary secretary of the Khalsa College Governing Council. No leaf is shaken with consent of these two persons in the Khalsa College institutions”.
Lala was founder editor of communal media group “Hind Samachar Group” that publishes Hindi daily Punjab Kesri. He was assassinated by the Sikh militants for his anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab activities during Dharam Yudh Morcha in Punjab. However, he was hailed as “Amar Shaheed” (immortal martyr) in the above mentioned ad.
