Upset over Sacrilege in Uttrakhand, Sangat Shifts Holy Birs to Gurdwara Singh Sabha

UDHAM SINGH NAGAR: Upset over the grave sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib witnessed in a gurdwara of village Balram Nagar, Tehsil Gadarpur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttrakhand, local Sikh Sangat along with preachers of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) visited the gurdwara to take stock of situation and shifted the holy saroop of Guru Sahib to Gurdwara Singh Sabha in nearby Gadarpur town.

At this gurdwara, a Raas Leela dance was organized to celebrate Hindu festival Janamashtmi in presence of Guru Granth Sahib. In a video going viral over social media, a girl with naked head is seen dancing during this event. This act hurt Sikh sentiments across the world. Other persons including children are also seen with naked heads and Hindu Bhajans are being played on the occasion. Going against Sikh Maryada, these persons are celebrating the Hindu festival inside the Gurdwara.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh took strong notice of this act and strongly condemned it. He directed the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to investigate the matter and take action against those responsible.

On Takht’s direction, the SGPC sent its two preachers—Sukhwinder Singh MA and Manjit Singh. They will prepare a report of the sacrilege and submit it to the Akal Takht Sahib.

Moreover, similar sacrilege which was being committed permanently in a Hindu temple, was also noticed by the local sangat. The Singhs also visited that temple and found the grave sacrilege of Guru Sahib. The holy saroop was shifted to Gurdwara Singh Sabha from this place too.

The Sangat has urged Takht Sahib to take stringent action against those responsible.
