AMRITSAR: Dr. Vivek Bindra, a self styled motivational speaker on social media, has been booked for hurting Sikh sentiments with personification of 10th Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh, through animation film technique and presenting the Sikh history in wrong manner.
The case against him was registered under Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 67-D of the Information Technology (IT) Act in Ranjit Avenue Police station, as per daily crime report issued by Amritsar City Police on complaint of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Prachar Sewa society activist Ranjit Singh.
Prior to this, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent legal notice to him, besides initiating other legal measures against him.
SGPC assistant secretary (media) Kulwinder Singh Ramdas said that Bindra had uploaded an animation video of Sri Guru Gobind Singh and Diwan Todar Mal, about which, the SGPC received various objections from the Sangat. In this video, Dr. Bindra presented wrong history, which has hurt Sikh sentiments.
Ramdas said Bindra disobeyed despite the fact that animation or filming of personality of Sikh Gurus is forbidden as per the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Due to this act of Bindra, the sentiments of Sikh Sangat are hurt, for which, action has been taken against him by the SGPC.
