AMRITSAR: In another incident that makes Sikh community feel alienated in this country, an Amritdhari Sikh students was stopped from sitting in the examinations of class 10 with kakars (five articles of Sikh faith) in Bokaro, Jharkhand.
The matter was shared by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Wednesday in a press release, wherein its president Harjinder Singh Dhami strongly condemns the act of depriving a Sikh of exercising his religion.
He said the Government of Jharkhand should mark a probe in this matter and take strict action against the accused principal. “The Kakars are essential part of Sikh living and under the constitutional right, the Sikhs have the freedom of wearing the same”, said Dhami.
The SGPC President said it cannot be tolerated that the Sikh students are facing such inconvenience during the exams in the country.
“SGPC has written to the Government of India and different state governments several times in this regard, but it is surprising that such excesses are still being deliberately done against the Sikh students”, he added
